Hebburn Town Juniors Futsal Delight

A Big Well done to Hebburn Town Under 10s who won Sunderland Futsal Tournament on Sunday October 19th.

Nine teams entered and Hebburn played 4 group games before winning 1 0 in the quarter Final against Washington and then coming from behind to win 3-1 v Redby in the semi final and then again coming from behind to win the final 2-1 v Grindon.

A fantastic achievement which shows not only the great spirit of the 7 lads in the Squad but also that Hebburn Town Juniors continue to be at the forefront of the Futsal revolution.

Futsal as a Development Tool

As you HTJ are very keen on coaches taking the opportunity of using Futsal to develop our kids on board.

Some of the coaches attended a recent Futsal Master Class presented by Ian Bateman of the FA.
We now have some of his sessions on our website, look at Coaches Corner or use this link:

Hebburn Town Juniors Futsal Frenzy !

Futsal is a great game and Hebburn Town Juniors continue to embrace it. On Friday June 6th a squad of Hebburn Town Juniors players were official mascots for 2 games at the International Futsal tournament at Northumbria Sport Central in Newcastle. The players were mascots for the USA v Cyprus teatime game and then later in the evening the big one as England took on Qatar. It was a great thrill for the lads to lead out the teams in this Official FIFA tournament particularly when the National Anthems of the 4 countries were played.
For the record the USA and Cyprus drew 1-1 and obviously Hebburn Town Juniors backing rubbed off on the England lads as the Three Lions swept aside Qatar 3-0. A great evening for all the lads and watching friends and parents.

Cleethorpes Clean Sweep

What a day Sunday the 25th May was for HTJ...in fact the whole weekend was awesome.

We took 3 teams down to a national tournament in Cleethorpes, U7, U12 & U13 teams. This tournament was attended by teams from all over Britain, not just England.

At the end of Day 1, Saturday, all 3 HTJ teams proudly sat top of their groups.

Sunday morning came with loads of excitement and anticipation. Although all of the lads were a bit tired...they were tired the parents were hung over...the lads all managed win the remaining group games and this meant we had 3 finals all going on in a short space of time.

First up was the U7s. The lads had done excellent so far. Getting to a final with no subs, no keeper and 2 of the kids actually u6s shows was a great achievement this was already. Hebburn took an early lead and played some great football. The philosophy which we try to give right through the club looks like it is paying off as the lads were passing all game. Somehow the referee managed to award a penalty to the opposition...looked like a brilliant tackle to me..the opposition scored and this meant the game was a draw. The dreaded penalties came and as you can imagine it was high drama, going to sudden death...the lads got there just rewards in the end and won the prize.

Next it was the U12s. Most of these lads had never played together, in fact some of them had never met each other. It was mixture of 2 players from the U11 Blues, 3 from U12 Blues, 3 from U12 Hornets, 1 from U12 Golds and 1 lad we found wondering around the caravan site...only kidding...he was a friend of a player. Although the lads had became a team over the 2 days they never really got into there stride in the final until the 2nd half. They could have quite easily been behind but also could have won it in the 2nd half. This game also went to penalties and again it went to sudden death. High drama here but again the lads got what they deserved.

Unfortunately the timing of the finals meant the U12s didn't get to the U13s final until the final whistle just being blown. By all accounts the lads kept up there 100% win record with a screamer of a volley into the top corner. All the 3 HTJ celebrated together after this final whistle and it was a joy to see.

If you have any photos/videos from the weekend send them to me at admin@hebburntownjuniorsfc.co.uk and I will create a gallery on the website.

Norm.

Tournament in Middlesbrough

Here's an email we received about a possible tournament...if you wish to enter please confirm with Katherine Mullen:

Dear Team manager,

After last year’s success I think it would be silly to miss out on this one. This event gained rave reviews in the local newspapers, also getting plenty of praise from the managers via email and text. The tournament has therefore expanded and will include a 5v5, 7v7 & 9v9 format whilst every team who enter will represent a team who are taking part in the World Cup.
This spectacular tournament is based at Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, Eston. The tournament is a 5/7/9 aside event and accepts teams of every standard from age groups Under 7’s – Under 11’s.
Teams from across the country will be invited so that you’re not playing the same teams from local leagues. Each league will consist of 6/7 teams so there will be plenty of football on the day with a minimum of 5 games with top teams progressing onto Quarter finals etc.
WHAT TO EXPECT!
  • To come up against teams from across the country
  • Top Class playing surface
  • Fantastic Trophies /Medals for winners
  • Plenty of game time
DATES
Saturday 14th June 2014
Sunday 15th June 2014

Hope this is of interest.  Spaces are available in the following age groups

Under 7 / Under 8 / Under 9 / Under 11

Kind Regards,

Anthony Walker

HTJ Coaches - help needed

Lads, we need a bit of help some Saturday afternoons with the 'Mash up' sessions which are held alongside the Tots, 12:30 to 2:00 on the 3g.
The lads who usually do it have all been doing such a cracking job that 31 kids were there on Saturday...unfortunately Brian Stewart was the only coach there...so he had his hands full.

If any coaches can help out, even if it is only once every few weeks then please let Brian or Norman Gray know.

We will be trying to keep a tighter check on this just so this sort of thing won't happen again.

Important message for parents and players

All players & parents alert.

We have recently been billed for £500 - 3G top up costs.

Basically we are getting charged to top up the 3G levels.

As you will understand we cannot afford to pay this type of money out every year.

In order to stop this and more importantly maintain the 3G levels, please collect any (3G) the small black balls that you and your child accidently (stolen) takes home in socks shoes or shin pads. Players have been known to smuggle the 3G out in every orifice imaginable.

Returns can be collected in a money bags (or lunchbox for frequent offenders).

Spot checks will be made. This is basically theft.

Please hand any returns to either Steve Rutherford or Dave Sewell.

Coming Soon

Parents...keep an eye on the website. In the next few days our club shop will be fully automated. You will be able to order and pay direct to the supplier for any training kit you want for your HTJ stars.

New U7's Teams (Tuesday group)

Majority of the new u7 kids were at training last night at the 3G, however there were a few missing for whatever reason. As shared at the session we have a mini round robin this Saturday 22nd March at the  3G for these players. The managers will be discussing and sorting the team split on Thursday and we ask all players (38 of them) arrive at Clegwell (red building) no later than 11.30am on Saturday. The coaches will split the teams as mentioned previously into three squads and hand out HTJFC strips for them to keep for the season. Please ensure they bring the correct footwear, shin guards warm overcoat/top and plenty of drinks. Also as we'll be at the 3G for a few hours we recommend you bring some snacks.
See you all on Saturday.
thanks
the u7 coaching team

Important Notice re Hot Drinks

Can we just remind everyone that hot or fizzy drinks are not allowed within the 3g playing area at Clegwell.

We have noticed some parents with hot drinks while inside the fenced area when kids are training. Please don't do this as it is not only against the policy for 3g users, it is also a health and safety issue.

Attention Hebburn Asda shoppers

Hi All,

No it’s not a bag pack!!!!! JJJ

It’s something less strenuous  and easy..basically If anyone shops in the Asda store in Hebburn Shopping Centre then during the month of March when you’ve been served please ask for a few GREEN TOKENS for the charities board.

On your way out and on the right handside you’ll notice a section highlighted as “Asda Local Community”, I’ve managed to get the club as one of these groups, the object of the game is to get as many shoppers to put these green tokens into your allocated box, the group with the most green tokens at the end of the month wins a cash donation maximum £100 per month..

We have over 800 adults as part of our club, granted not everyone shops at asda, but pass the message on and get those greens tokens into the Hebburn Town Juniors FC slot..

Thanks

Stephen

Chairman

Gareth Southgate Masterclass - Creative Attacking Play

Gareth Southgate was appointed England U21s Head Coach in August 2013. During his period in charge of the Young Lions, the former Middlesbrough manager has overseen England’s qualification for the 2015 U21 European Championship’s in the Czech Republic - winning five and drawing one of six qualification games.

At December’s FA Licensed Coaches’ Club conference the former England defender provided an insight into the coaching methods used with the U21 squad and how this approach to practice will be adopted by all England’s youth teams.

In this five part FA Licensed Coaches’ Club Masterclass series Southgate focuses on creative attacking play and breaking down a compact defence.

The focus of part one of the Masterclass is a possession practice in restricted space challenging the players to play through tight areas with the aim of releasing an attacking player into one of the end zones.

Watch part one of Gareth's Masterclass below:

Watch Video

Part two of Gareth's Masterclass session will follow.
