Blues Madrid, what a game; sky sports would have paid money to broadcast Blues Madrid vs Redby. Blues Madrid were kept in the game by man of the match Cory "the cat" Swift.. Adam Burns bagging a brace with two cracking finishes and Ramin Khazaeli contrbuting with a goal. Captain Harry Compton leading from the front getting loads of tackles in and using his pace to great effect, backed up by Ben Slassor showing great skill. Lewis Newsome showing off his tricks with his trusted left foot leaving players in his wake. Finally Emma aka 'The Rock' holding the defence together with great tackles and precision passing. Never mind Sky Sports you might catch it next time.
Blues Barca were in action against Leam Rangers, always a tough fixture. Leam were tough to play against, and despite taking the lead 3 times we were unable to contain Spencer. Having said that we conceded only one from open play which is encouraging from a team defensive standpoint . Great goals from Charlie (2) and Bobby from a trademark free kick.
Gold Barca were also in action against Leam Rangers, and found the going tough as well. The lads came up against a very tough and organised Leam Rangers Greens.Golds Barca battled on in the second half where Adam Downie managed to pull one back with a lovely goal from off the back of Jack Armstrong's cross. As well as some quality outfield play, both Mathew George and Sam Taylor pulled off some impressive saves in Goal. Hayden Churchwood delivered as alwayds in midfield and was unlucky not to bag one for the team.Non-stop performances from Lucas Martin and Lewis George delivered some clinical tackling where Leam could have easily widend the gap even further. The lads were close on few other occasions but it was too much an uphill struggle to claw our way back from a very convincing Leam performance. All in all it was an end to end game with some great goals and play from both teams.
Golds Barca were back in action on Sunday, with a catch up fixture against Washington: Another end to end game between Gold Barca and Washington. Not getting the rub if the green again with some great football and crosses across the box just unable to get on the end of them. Another learning curve. Adam Downie getting the only goal. Lewis George man of the match again with great passing and tackles in the middle of the park with Hayden and Jack making some great saves in goal. Matthew Sam and Lucas all playing their part in a great match.
A fantatstic performance by Gold Madrid on Saturday against Jarrow Youth including Goal of the season for us: a defense splitting pass from Joe Davies, coolly finished by Jack Tatters. Great performance from all the boys in horrible conditions.
Sunday morning saw GM back in action, this time against Harton and Westoe Minors. A tightly contested game, settled by a penalty that only the referee saw. All credit to the Madrid lads, they didn't make a fuss and got on with it. Overall, however, a great weekend for Gold Madrid: four goals for, only two against, with the lads starting to show a real work ethic and team spirit. Look out for an extended report from the Humbledon Tournament next Sunday.

Two games for Golds Barca this weekend. Saturday brought a tough game
against a Lumley Oranges side who passed the ball very well, the
boy’s struggled to get started in the game and because of this
seemed drained of motivation, with the rain and hailstone belting
down morale during the game was low, the boys played as 5 individuals
with very little if any teamwork, a disappointing 4-0 defeat but a
game to forget and a learning curve for us all including us the
coaches.
Sunday brought a second game of the weekend this time against Easington
Whites, the boys came out of the blocks sharp, totally different to
24hrs earlier, they were playing the fast flowing football
demonstrating some superb individual skill, determination and some
excellent team ethic. The team went behind in the first half 2-0, so
second half had an uphill battle, but the boys worked hard and within
5 minutes of the restart were back level 2-2. Two excellent goals
made by the team and finished off by Adam. The goals brought an extra
lift to the team and within a few minutes the team were 3-2 up,
excellent philosophy playing out from the back to the defender, one
touch onto the midfielder, dribbled down the wing and a cross in the
box for the striker to finish (Best goal of the game by far). The
opposition continued to work tirelessly and were rewarded for their
efforts, they were given two dubious goals, final minutes
Easington got a great 5th goal with a thunderbolt that went through the keepers legs. So a 5-3
defeat but as i said to the boys on Sunday “who cares”? because
we don’t, we saw some great action and performances demonstrating
their development is progressing...Great attitudes and play in even
worse snowy weather than Saturday.
On Saturday Gold Madrid played in what is only described as a mini blizzard at Farringdon. Part of the teams development for the game was to concentrate more on defensive side of the game today, Madrid achieved this with some outstanding defending as individuals and as team. With some great play Madrid took the lead, but couldn't hold on to it. Madrid overall game was outstanding every played worked hard for each other but this week could not obtain a result.
Junior Barca played out a fantastic game on Saturday with some great defending as this was the focus for their development in the game, playing some great football and defending with spirit and as team managed to take a hard fought victory.
Blues Barca played 3 games this weekend which would shape their position in the league. The 1st game saw the lads in an end to end game with Foundation of light whites where they took away a 4-3 win.
After leading for almost 25 minutes of the 2nd game an looking to challenge for the league against Willington Blues the lads suffered a 4-2 defeat in the firing minutes.
The 3rd game saw the lads up against a very strong Newcastle Boys Club. NBC took a 3-1 lead which was all against the run of play. The lads fought back though and their crisp passing an moving earned a 3-3 draw.

In the Durham FA division 1 the Golds had a hard fought 3-2 victory against a much improved Whitburn & Cleadon team.
In the RF Premier division the Hornets played out a 0-0 draw at home to Harton & Westoe. On another day the Hornets could have quite easily won this game 5-0...the second half seemed to consist of the ball barely leaving the opposition 18 yard box.
