Round up - 14/02/2016

U7s

Blues Madrid, what a game; sky sports would have paid money to broadcast Blues Madrid vs Redby. Blues Madrid were kept in the game by man of the match Cory "the cat" Swift.. Adam Burns bagging a brace with two cracking finishes and Ramin Khazaeli contrbuting with a goal. Captain Harry Compton leading from the front getting loads of tackles in and using his pace to great effect,  backed up by Ben Slassor showing great skill. Lewis Newsome showing off his tricks with his trusted left foot leaving players in his wake. Finally Emma aka 'The Rock' holding the defence together with great tackles and precision passing. Never mind Sky Sports you might catch it next time.

Blues Barca were in action against Leam Rangers, always a tough fixture. Leam were tough to play against, and despite taking the lead 3 times we were unable to contain Spencer. Having said that we conceded only one from open play which is encouraging from a team defensive standpoint . Great goals from Charlie (2) and Bobby from a trademark free kick.

Gold Barca were also in action against Leam Rangers, and found the going tough as well. The lads came up against a very tough and organised Leam Rangers Greens.Golds Barca battled on in the second half where Adam Downie managed to pull one back with a lovely goal from off the back of Jack Armstrong's cross. As well as some quality outfield play, both Mathew George and Sam Taylor pulled off some impressive saves in Goal. Hayden Churchwood delivered as alwayds in midfield and was unlucky not to bag one for the team.Non-stop performances from Lucas Martin and Lewis George delivered some clinical tackling where Leam could have easily widend the gap even further. The lads were close on few other occasions but it was too much an uphill struggle to claw our way back from a very convincing Leam performance. All in all it was an end to end game with some great goals and play from both teams.
Golds Barca were back in action on Sunday, with a catch up fixture against Washington: Another end to end game between Gold Barca and Washington. Not getting the rub if the green again with some great football and crosses across the box just unable to get on the end of them. Another learning curve. Adam Downie getting the only goal. Lewis George man of the match again with great passing and tackles in the middle of the park with Hayden and Jack making some great saves in goal. Matthew Sam and Lucas all playing their part in a great match.

A fantatstic performance by Gold Madrid on Saturday against Jarrow Youth including Goal of the season for us: a defense splitting pass from Joe Davies, coolly finished by Jack Tatters. Great performance from all the boys in horrible conditions.
Sunday morning saw GM back in action, this time against Harton and Westoe Minors. A tightly contested game, settled by a penalty that only the referee saw. All credit to the Madrid lads, they didn't make a fuss and got on with it. Overall, however, a great weekend for Gold Madrid: four goals for, only two against, with the lads starting to show a real work ethic and team spirit. Look out for an extended report from the Humbledon Tournament next Sunday.

Two games for Golds Barca this weekend. Saturday brought a tough game against a Lumley Oranges side who passed the ball very well, the boy’s struggled to get started in the game and because of this seemed drained of motivation, with the rain and hailstone belting down morale during the game was low, the boys played as 5 individuals with very little if any teamwork, a disappointing 4-0 defeat but a game to forget and a learning curve for us all including us the coaches.

Sunday brought a second game of the weekend this time against Easington Whites, the boys came out of the blocks sharp, totally different to 24hrs earlier, they were playing the fast flowing football demonstrating some superb individual skill, determination and some excellent team ethic. The team went behind in the first half 2-0, so second half had an uphill battle, but the boys worked hard and within 5 minutes of the restart were back level 2-2. Two excellent goals made by the team and finished off by Adam. The goals brought an extra lift to the team and within a few minutes the team were 3-2 up, excellent philosophy playing out from the back to the defender, one touch onto the midfielder, dribbled down the wing and a cross in the box for the striker to finish (Best goal of the game by far). The opposition continued to work tirelessly and were rewarded for their efforts, they were given two dubious goals, final minutes Easington got a great 5th goal with a thunderbolt that went through the keepers legs. So a 5-3 defeat but as i said to the boys on Sunday “who cares”? because we don’t, we saw some great action and performances demonstrating their development is progressing...Great attitudes and play in even worse snowy weather than Saturday.

On Saturday Gold Madrid played in what is only described as a mini blizzard at Farringdon. Part of the teams development for the game was to concentrate more on defensive side of the game today, Madrid achieved this with some outstanding defending as individuals and as team. With some great play Madrid took the lead, but couldn't hold on to it. Madrid overall game was outstanding every played worked hard  for each other but this week could not obtain a result.

Junior Barca played out a fantastic game on Saturday with some great defending as this was the focus for their development in the game, playing some great football and defending with spirit and as team managed to take a hard fought victory.

Blues Barca played 3 games this weekend which would shape their position in the league. The 1st game saw the lads in an end to end game with Foundation of light whites where they took away a 4-3 win.
After leading for almost 25 minutes of the 2nd game an looking to challenge for the league against Willington Blues the lads suffered a 4-2 defeat in the firing minutes.
The 3rd game saw the lads up against a very strong Newcastle Boys Club. NBC took a 3-1 lead which was all against the run of play. The lads fought back though and their crisp passing an moving earned a 3-3 draw.

U13s
In the Durham FA division 1 the Golds had a hard fought 3-2 victory against a much improved Whitburn & Cleadon team.

In the RF Premier division the Hornets played out a 0-0 draw at home to Harton & Westoe. On another day the Hornets could have quite easily won this game 5-0...the second half seemed to consist of the ball barely leaving the opposition 18 yard box.

Girls teams
Another excellent performance from the U10 Honeys as they beat St Cuthberts 6-2. Great passing and moving from the outfield players, along with an excellent goalkeeping performance from Amber. Hard work and effort was rewarded against a much improved St Cuthbert's side.Goal Scorers - Demi 3,Grace,Hannah & Rachel. GOTG – Demi.

The U12 Honeys played their first game for 6 weeks on a boggy pitch at Hebburn and went down 3-1 to Whitburn Panthers. Hebburn had only nine players available and started brightly, scoring first. Whitburn equalised and then took the lead with a superb goal, with their number 10 out pacing the defence. In the second half, as Hebburn pressed for an equaliser, Whitburn broke away to score a third. Goal Scorer and GOTG – Sophie Hollis

Dissapointing result for the U14 Honeys this week as we lost in the cup against a very strong, physical and organised Durham & Cestria team. Early chances were missed and proved costly. For 2nd time this season a dubious penalty was awarded. Rachel Abdo made a great save but couldnt prevent the follow up. As a result we went in to half time 1 down. 5 goals were scored in 2nd half without reply which wasnt helped by an injury to Chloe Ireland. Coaches & Opponents GOTG – Rachel Abdo, Parents GOTG – Chloe Ireland

Juniors Madrid fixture was another el Classico against Golds Madrid. A great game of football with both teams playing the Hebburn way. 6 goals in the game with Juniors Madrid, including one direct from a corner kick from Shaun Lowrie. . Another fantastic display from all the juniors with 2 goals each from Daniel and Josh. Great football from Liam, Toby and Ethan and fine goalkeeping performances from Flynn and Alex. Josh picking up parents player of the match and Toby the coaches player award. Thr photo attached is the two teams before the game. Photo attached is of the two squads before the match.

Well what a week for Hebburn Blues Madrid. Thursday saw a tough game against Harton with goals flying in from all over the pitch. Harry Compton pulling off a wonder save, to keep the game tied at half time. 2nd half saw Blues Madrid go goal crazy, Emma, Harry and Ben all bagging a brace with Lewis and Cory chipping in with a goal each. Saturday saw a tight game against Leam Rangers with both teams playing exciting football in a 7 goal thriller. Blues Madrid getting goals from Cory, Harry and Adam continuing the goal rush from Thursday night. Ramin picking up man of the match with some great last ditch tackles. All in good spirit with Leam Rangers with all coaches proud of the football on display. Blues Madrid rounded a good week off thanks to South Shields FC by forming a guard of honour for the players before kick off.

Gold Barca played out of their skins. Excellent possession play and passing.Great tackles at the back from Lewis, great goalkeeping from Lucas and Adam. All round an excellent performance by all. Coaches man of the match Lewis. Parents man of the match Matthew. 2 goals from Jack Hayden and Lucas. 1 each for Lewis and Sam.

Hebburn Town Juniors Barca came up against a very strong side in Hebburn Town Blues Barca it was a great learning curve for our young uns who tried from start to finish and really gave their all.
Blues barcas extra year proved the difference but the game was competitive and lively with both teams playing some great stuff. Both teams played 6 aside to ensure no subs and the game was played in a fantastic spirit . Well done to all the lads

U8s
Juniors Madrid had a full squad out as they took on HFC Utd Blues. Despite falling behind early on the boys were able to turn things round in the first half and ended going in to half time 3-2 ahead. An early 2nd half equaliser for HFC did not deter the boys and they upped the tempo of their performance, eventually running out 7-3 victors. Great determination was shown by all and it was fantastic to see the goals coming from 5 different scorers.

Derby day for Gold’s Barca on Saturday as they faced Jarrow Vikings FC in the league, the team were down to 6 players. The game was tight with both teams providing opportunities but Barca quickly went 2-0 down and were then on the back foot. Half-time team talk was about determination and enjoyment and expressing themselves, BOOM straight out of the blocks it was a different team and they quickly pulled one back 2-1. The team started to play flowing football that made the opposition think. The boys created chances but they just couldn’t put them in the onion bag, after dominating for a long period the sucker punch came when a good move from Jarrow ended in their 3rd goal. Gold’s Barca continued to work hard to pull it back but time ran out. Really proud of the boys attitude and determination and for creating some superb chances, they developed and learnt a lot from the game. Well done boys

On Saturday Gold Madrid played Humbledon, Madrid started the game fast scoring early on to take the lead, which saw Humbledon coaches not so pleased, with constant instruction from the side line and pressure Humbledon took the lead, Madrid played some great football, hitting the post several time, chance after chance but to no avail Madrid couldn't increase their goal tally. Humbledon having a permanent goal keeper was the difference who repeatedly kept Madrid at bay. Madrid were unable to get back into the game despite the constant attempt at goal.

Blues Madrid were up against a very strong & we'll organised Farringdon Detached team, From KO we were under a lot of pressure but some great saves & excellent defending we stayed in the game.
A half time team talk gave the boys belief & what a 2nd half performance it was, an unbelievable team effort. The game ended 0-0 but felt like a win. The best team performance of the season.

On Saturday Blues Barca played against a very determined FOL Reds team who worked very hard and closed us down very quickly. FOL Reds took a 2-1 lead but we soon equalised to take a draw into the break with two goals from Marc Forster in the first half. A great chipped free kick from Alex Douglas gave us the lead in the second and some great skill from Harry Richardson down the wing who took on three players before crossing for Nathan Salkeld who calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner with a one touch finish which got the lads some breathing space. FOL Reds pulled another goal back and after a nail biting last few minutes the ref blew to give the lads a well-deserved 4-3 win.

On Sunday Blues Barca took on Newcastle Benfield in a game that would decide both Teams future. The loser would move down the tiering order and the winner would play for the top division title in the next league. Benfield were very hard working and very physical, they pressured the lads a great deal and it became a scrappy affair at times. The lads took the lead 1st but Benfield soon got back into it and went on to take the lead. This game was another nail biter but as soon as Hebburn got the ball down and passed it they soon started to dominate and got the lead back. At 4-2 up the lads looked comfortable but a hit and hope lobbed our keeper to ensure the last few minutes was a back to the walls affair. The lads held out and fully deserved their win proving that they can work just as hard as anyone else as well as use their skills and passing to great effect.

U14s
It was another Hebburn derby, this time in the Durham FA Premier Division as the Juniors played the Blues. Both teams started the game with 11 fit players and a semi fit sub. The Juniors deservedly took a 2-0 lead into the closing stages of game, despite missing a lot of chances and the Blues keeper having a 'stormer'. Things went from bad to worse for the Blues who finished the game with 9 fit players. The Juniors managed to come away 5-0 winners and stay top of the league.

In division one the Golds maintained a good run of form with a comfortable win 9-1 against Brandon Reds. The lads dominated the game from early in the first half.

In the RF Premier division the Hornets put in a great performance away to Hetton Juniors on what can only be described as 'farmers field' pitch. Injury meant 2 of the lads had to volunteer for a half each in goal...well done Rob and Lindan, The lads never looked like conceding and tried to play football. Great determination ensured a 4-0 win.

Round up - 31/01//2016

U7s
Blues Barca: Game of two halves as despite a Charlie Dodd hat trick in the first half, the long haired whizz kid Olly, the u7 currently at 3 academies , completely destroyed blues barca in the second half. An important learning curve as a group from a team defensive standpoint, as it was a very disappointing result particularly following a very strong first half. Daniel Farish added an excellent consolation goal, and Captain Joe Forrester led by example with an outstanding performance, but a failure to defend as a team was very costly on the day.

A great team effort from Blues Madrid in difficult playing conditions, A flying start with a goal from Ramin Khazaeli in under 7 seconds from the kick off. Adam Burns and Ben Slassor showing great skills in the middle of the park (watch out Messi!). Lewis Newsome (coaches MOTM) showing great skill on the wing beating the defender and putting a great cross in for Corey Swift (parents MOTM) who finished the move off with a great finish. Captain Harry Compton putting great tackles in and passes. Emma aka "the rock" playing great in defence and pulling off brilliant saves in the 2nd half. A close run game with great football from both sides.

Another great performance from Golds Madrid against Washington Wildcats. It is really pleasing as a coach to see these guys start to come together as a team. Special mention to the Madrid parents: great encouragement from them, with everyone cheering on each other's kid.
Sunday saw Gold Madrid on the road again, with development friendlies at Leam Rangers. Again, some great foorball on display as the lads continue to grow together as a team.

Juniors Madrid fixture was an el Classico against Golds Barca. A great game played with a great attitude by both teams with Golds Barca just edging a 12 goal thriller. A great display from all the juniors with goals from Alex, Flynn and Daniel, some excellent football from Josh, Ethan and Liam, and great goalkeeping from Leon and Toby. Alex Thompson picking up parents player of the match and Daniel Mills the coaches player award.

Juniors Barca had a fab game at the weekend what can only be described as a game of 2 halves. The game really did have a bit of everything from goal keepers dribbling past 3 players to scoring great free kicks, last ditch clearances on the goal line to closing down and making great tackles. Great to watch in shocking conditions

U8s
Blues Barca faced top of the Table Farringdon in the RF League Division 1. Farringdon had lost only one game this season. Although the team were depleted again they fought on bravely. Farringdon forced their way into the game and pinched a 3-1 win with better finishing than us on the day. It was an excellent game of football to watch and the lads worked hard throughout. Marc Forster scored our only goal but we could have had more on a different day.

Golds Barca played Shotton Colts in a definite 'game of two halves'. In awful conditions Shotton took a 2-0 lead into half time. Golds Barca showed great spirit and fast flowing football in the second half to take a 3-2 lead only for Shotton to get an equaliser with minutes to spare. Great game of football.

Gold Madrid played out a hard fought game in windy conditions against a strong Hetton side, finding it difficult to play against the wind Madrid found themselves behind, second half Madrid fought hard to get back in to the game which they did only for all their hard work to be faltered by what can only be described as baffling decision by the referee, which seen Hetton awarded a penalty. Madrid played well and walked off the pitch with their heads held high.

Junior Barca suffered the same as Madrid with the extreme windy conditions that saw the goals blow over several times, which broke up the rhythm of the game, Barca tried hard to stay in the game but to no avail against an improved Whiteleas, conditioned hampered their game, but as Madrid they came of the pitch with their heads held high after a great effort in extreme windy conditions.

Despite only having the bare minimum due to illness and holidays Juniors Madrid managed to register a 6-0 victory against Hetton Juniors Roma in very blustery conditions. A solid defensive display gave a foundation for both Findlay and Jamie to score hat-tricks. A well-deserved clean sheet for goalkeepers Taylor and Josh and a great all round performance from Jacob.

U9s
Russell Foster Premier Division - Blues vs Hetton Lazio. Unlike last week we started extremely fast and took an early lead. Throughout the game we pushed hard and the goals kept coming, winning 6-1. Good passing and pressing was what won us the game.

Russell Foster Division One - Golds vs Chester-Le-Street Blues. In an incredibly entertaining game both teams shared the points in a 4-4 draw. We took an early two goal lead and went in to half time 3-1 up. Chester-Le-Street never gave up and battled back into the game to grab a last minute equaliser.

The Juniors only just lost out 3-2 in a very close game with North East Sport Vipers. We took a 2-0 lead into half time with great goals from Finn Elder and Callum Pounder. Unfortunately in the second half they snatched it with a late winner. The past two meetings we've lost heavily so making progress.

U14s
In the Durham FA Premier the Blues had a hard faught game away to Trimdon Juniors on an awful pitch in awful conditions. The lads went down to a 3-1 defeat.

In Division 1 the Golds went down 4-2 to Easington in an end to end game. The Golds squandered lots of opportunites and should have gotten something from the game.

The RF Premier division saw third placed Hornets play top of the table Leam Rangers in a great game of football. Despite playing some great football the Hornets finished the first half 4-0 down. The lads dominated the second half and managed to pull a goal back. With a little bit of luck the score would not have been 4-1.

U15s
The Juniors were out fought by a strong Redby side unable to get into the game they battled but lost 7 - 0 in awful conditions.

The Hebburn derby saw the Greens play the Golds in an excellent end to end game played in great spirit with both teams giving their all. The game was pipped with a last minute goal from the Golds giving them a 4 - 3 win.

The Blues played top of the table Boldon Colts in a strong game with passion and determination the Blues came away with a well deserved 3 - 2 win.

The Wasps played Away at Houghton on Sunday with the bare 11 including no keeper on a pretty terrible grass pitch. Heavily beaten in the end using 3 separate lads to play Keeper and finishing the game with 9 players due to injuries. A fixture to forget. Onto the next.

U17s
The lads continued a good season so far with an impressive 5-2 win over Lambton Street.

U18s
Unfortunately the lads were on the wrong end of a hiding as they went down 13-3 to top of the table Fulwell Academicals.

Girls Teams:
U10s won 7-2 against Deerness Valley.
Great performance as it their first game of the year. Four goals for Olivia, excellent teamwork and passing. GOTG – Demi

U14s won 4-0 away to Norton.

First league game since December and this showed in slow start and wasn't helped by heavy pitch. Despite this the girls still managed to pass ball well and play some attractive football. Hat trick from Katie and 1 from Erin. Coaches GOTG-Erin, Parents GOTG-Katie, Players GOTG-Chloe
